Professional Background
Professor Kubacki is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MTE) at the University of Alabama. He joined the MTE faculty in 2019 after serving as a Post-doctoral Research Associate in the Center for Electrochemical Science and Engineering (CESE) at the University of Virginia under Dr. Robert G. Kelly, where he focused on localized and atmospheric corrosion mechanisms of aluminum alloys. He received a Ph.D. from Clemson Univeristy in Bioengineering under Dr. Jeremy Gilbert with a specific research focus on the corrosion and tribocorrosion behavior of corrosion resistant biomedical alloys (Co-Cr-Mo and Ti-6Al-4V) in aggressive environments that simulated inflammation.
Personal Interests
When not working, Dr. Kubacki enjoys spending time with his wife, Chelsea, and soaking up the Alabama sun; whether that be hiking through nearby parks, walking or running on campus, or relaxing in the back yard. You may also spot Dr. Kubacki in attendance at UA Basketball or Gymnastics events. Prof. Kubacki and Chelsea are also extensively involved in animal rescue in the Central Alabama Area. They have fostered more than 70 dogs and puppies over the last three years (some of which can be seen below).
